BCS Selection Weekend Part 3/3

As we get closer to the holidays and bowl season, there have been quite a few developments. For one team not in a bowl game, Notre Dame has hired their new coach Brian Kelly away from the Cincinnati Bearcats who will be playing Florida in the Sugar Bowl. It’s also been said that Kelly won’t be coaching when Cincinnati takes on the Gators, which could be a good or bad thing. Personally, I feel it’s going to be great for Cincinnati who might now have a chance at beating the Gators. They’re going to come out fired up trying to prove that it wasn’t Kelly that got that team to win and play out of their minds. So, maybe I’ll have to change my last prediction…but I’m not. Still Florida. Next up:

FedEx Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech (11-2) vs. Iowa (10-2)

Orange-Bowl-football-logoThis game will be the least watched game of the BCS bowls, but not for a lack of good teams. Georgia Tech has had a stellar spread offense all year and beaten some good teams throughout their season. Iowa has pulled away with numerous close games in the final minutes and their only losses came when they didn’t have their starting quarterback due to injury. With Stanzi playing and the defense rolling, I could really see them keeping up with the Yellow Jackets. However, I’m not sure they’ll be able to pull out the close one that this game will definitely turn out to be. Keep an eye out for this one, it’s gonna be a doozy.

The Best of the Rest:

Capital One Bowl: Penn State (10-2) vs. LSU (9-3)

Joe Paterno vs. Les Miles. Two great teams with a lot of history. Definitely going to be a good one.

Pacific Life Holiday Bowl: Arizona (8-4) vs. Nebraska (9-4)

Can Arizona prove it’s going to be a contender for years to come? On the other side, is Nebraska returning to prominence? We’ll see.

Champs Sports Bowl: Miami (9-3) vs. Wisconsin (9-3)

I can’t wait to watch Jacory Harris take on the hard-nose Wisconsin Badgers. The fast paced Hurricanes take on the grind it out Badgers. Should be interesting to see who pulls it out.
